The Story Behind the Doodle
In our Second Year of Algonquin College Animation program we were asked to start thinking about our third year films. I wanted mine to be about a deer. A realistic deer going on an adventure.
Bumble was the the first “final” design.
All was well. He was just about what I wanted.
Until that one fateful night before Christmas break I decided to take a break from animating and draw a silly little deer all over the chalk board. This was the result;
He received the name Dinky so he could be differentiated from Bumble.
And wouldn’t I happen to post that on Facebook, happy with the silly doodles. But so were my friends. And my professors. Soon it seemed silly not to try to animate the little Dinky deer.
My animations were scrapped. Dinky replaced Bumble completely. Do I regret it?
Not at all. I ended up with a much easier film to animate, and had much more fun than I would have with Bumble. Run on you crazy deer.
